Intro:

Paraquat is a restricted herbicide available as a concentrate, granules or aerosol which causes multiple organ failure and death after the ingestion of just a mouthful of concentrate. Similarly, diquat is a herbicide which can still be used in the UK and causes CNS toxicity. Identifying whether a patient has ingested these can be useful, although there is no effective treatments for these.
